Our Services

Positive Behaviour Support

At Australian Psychology and Speech Clinic, we deliver Positive Behaviour Support by collaborating with our clients, their families, and support teams to understand behaviours of concern and their underlying causes. Our practitioners develop individualised Behaviour Support Plans that promote quality of life, skill development, and safe, positive participation in daily activities.

What is Positive Behaviour Support ?

At Australian Psychology and Speech Clinic, our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) service helps understand the reasons why challenging behaviours occur and identify changes to better support each person. We consider communication, needs, routines, and environment to guide our approach. Positive Behaviour Support does not use traditional psychological therapy. Instead, it focuses on behaviour patterns — including triggers and outcomes — to understand how and why the behaviour occurs. We work with our clients, their families, and support teams in clinic and mobile settings to examine what happens before a behaviour, what the behaviour looks like, and the outcomes that follow. This approach helps identify the purpose of the behaviour and informs strategies that can be used consistently across all settings.

Evidence-Based Care

Evidence-Based Care

Our Behaviour Support practitioners go beyond standard interventions to help maintain motivation during specialist behaviour support. We use a person-centred approach, incorporating tools such as our dedicated music room, sensory room, gym, and other equipment to enhance engagement and make therapy meaningful and tailored to each individual. We aim to improve quality of life, build independence, and reduce the use of restrictive practices. We use person-centred, evidence-based Behaviour Support Plans to promote positive behaviour, improve safety, and support participation at home, school, work, and in the community. Whether you’re seeking assistance with managing challenging behaviours, require a Functional Behavioural Assessment (FBA) or specialised behavioural intervention, our Positive Behaviour Support services help individuals and families build confidence and develop skills for everyday life.
